1 What would you do for me if I made an emergency call in the middle of the night and I didn't know where I was?
First we would need to identify where you were and what kind of emergency situation you were in. In most cases, we would ask you about the route you took to get where you are, and then possibly ask you to tell us what you had driven by five minutes before. We would ask you to describe the kind of trouble you are having with your car, how many of you are in the vehicle and what is your final destination. Once all of this is clear, we would organise a call out with our local agent, who would drive to where you are and assist you with your car, either getting it started again or storing it safely at the nearest dealers for imminent repair. In the meantime, you would be offered hotel accommodation for all passengers in the vehicle. You would also be given the choice to return to your home by rental car or another means of local transportation whenever it is next available. In this case, after your car had been repaired, we would notify you. You would either come and pick it up, or we could have it delivered to your home via a land transporters' delivery service. All costs, except for the workshop repair, would in principle, be borne by us, though coverage and conditions vary according to the manufacturer.
2 My car is a convertible. The folding top works electrically but it has malfunctioned and stopped in the middle. It just started raining heavily. How could you help me?
As a rule, we would not assist you if your car is mobile; however, being stuck in a downpour with no roof, and with no possibility to manually close the top is exceptional, and would prohibit you from driving normally or safely. We would dispatch our agent to place a rain cloth over your automobile and tow it to the nearest dealer. It would take our agent approximately 30 minutes to reach you, so we would ask that in the meantime, you try to move your car to a sheltered spot or find some kind of protective cover for the interior.
3 Are overseas medical costs expensive?
In western countries medical expenses are generally quite high. Even in countries where the cost of living is comparatively inexpensive, such as Asia and China, medical treatment can incur significant expenses. This is because of the quality of the foreign-affiliated medical institutions themselves, which are most popular amongst Japanese and foreign tourists. These institutions are well-equipped, clean and offer complete hospital service coverage. It is possible, however, to receive treatment without advancing any cash. Millea Mondial has agreements of this nature with over 300,000 medical institutions throughout the world.
4 What does an urgent medical transfer mean?
It is essential to make an accurate judgement as to whether or not a patient with an external head injury suffers only from a temporary concussion or possibly faces a more fatal injury, such as a brain bruising, or contusion. When it is impossible to make such a diagnosis or deliver treatment, then this itself constitutes a crisis situation. Millea Mondial has round-the-clock, direct, daily contact with local doctors, so its medical teams are always aware of a patient's situation. If the local doctor thinks it is too dangerous to entrust the patient to the local hospital, it would then be necessary to make an urgent medical transfer to another hospital, either in the same country or in a neighbouring country. Millea Mondial would also evaluate the possibility of repatriating the patient back to Japan via its network of emergency medical specialists and air ambulances. Our specialists are experts in aeronautical medicine, and are fully aware of the physiological influences and problems which may occur in flight. Millea Mondial directly liaises with the local primary doctors to verify and advise on the required medical treatment. With extreme precaution we then decide whether or not an emergency transfer should be made.
5 I am going to New York. Could you give me the names of several restaurants with beautiful views of the city by night?
Yes, we can reserve tables for you in famous, exclusive restaurants in major cities throughout the world, as well as restaurants which are appropriate for business or pleasure.
6 I would like to stay at a famous hotel during my trip abroad. Can you arrange this for me?
We can arrange bookings in hundreds of exclusive hotels and resorts worldwide, which have all passed strict standard and criteria tests. We can even reserve rooms for you in beautiful castle hotels which are very difficult to get into.
7 When I travelled overseas, I forgot to buy some items my wife specially requested. Would you be able to buy them for me?
On behalf of our customers, we can look for the requested goods overseas and deliver them to you in Japan. In addition, we can even look for and purchase goods which are only available overseas, while customers remain in Japan.
